time noun

noun

Differences between American and British English: time

American speakers ask what time it is by asking “What time do you have?” or “Do you have the time?” British speakers ask “Have you got the time?” or “What time do you make it?” In the U.S., if children can read a clock face you say that they can tell time. In the U.K., you say that they can tell the time. In American English, you say the time is “ten of three” or “ten after three.” British speakers say “ten to three” or “ten past three.”
