The Oxbridge colleges have a good educational reputation and high social status, and provide the UK with many of its leaders in business and public life. However, they are often criticized for their old-fashioned traditions and because they do not accept enough students from ordinary backgrounds and state schools. In the US, the Ivy League universities have a similar status.
